Bank Holiday on October 10: A number of private and public banks in India will be closed on October 10 to commemorate Maha Saptami. For the day, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced bank holidays in designated states, which is a significant component of the Durga Puja celebrations.

Banks in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and West Bengal will be closed on October 10 in honour of Durga Puja/Dussehra, while banks in other areas will operate as usual. Maha Saptami Maha Puja (Maha Puja) begins on the seventh day of Durga Puja and is an important day of the 10-day festival.

According to mythology, Goddess Durga began her battle against the demon king Mahisasura on this day.
Even if bank branches are closed in these states, critical banking services like online banking, UPI, ATMs, and mobile applications will continue to function fully.

Banks to remain shut in these states

Banks in Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, and Bengal will be closed on the 10th. In other parts of the country, banks will remain operational. Mahasaptami is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga when the seventh form of Goddess is worshipped. Banks in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland and Bengal will be closed on Thursday as well.

List of bank holidays In October

October 11 (Mahastami/Mahanavami/Ayudha Puja): Banks will be closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya on Friday.

October 12 (Dashehra/Mahannavami/Vijayadashami): Banks will be closed in all states on Saturday as it is also the second Saturday of the month.

October 13: Sunday

October 14 (Durga Puja): Banks will be closed on Monday in Sikkim.

16 October: Lakshmi Puja (Agartala, Kolkata)

17 October: Maharishi Balmiki Jayanti/ Kati Bihu

20th October: Weekly Closed (Sunday)

26 October: Occupation Day/ Fourth Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir

27th October: Weekly Closed (Sunday)

31 October: Diwali (Diwali)/ Kali Puja/ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti/ Narak Chaturdashi
