Bank Holiday Today: All banks, including private and government banks, remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as on Sundays according to the roster of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Along with the second and fourth Saturdays, banks remain closed on every Sunday, national holiday and state-specific holidays. 

Are Banks Closed Today?

All the banks across India will remain open today, December 6, which is the first Saturday of the month. According to the Reserve Bank of India region-wise holiday calendar (RBI) for the fiscal year 2025-26, Banks are closed on all Saturdays and Sundays except for the first, third, and fifth Saturdays.

All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays,” the RBI guideline said.

What Does A Bank Holiday Mean For Public?

Even if there is a holiday, online banking activities like ATMs, Net Banking, UPI and online NEFT transfers are available. However, if there is work involving a physical visit to the branch, customers are advised to check the holiday list given by the RBI to avoid any inconvenience.
