Bihar DA Hike: In one of its recent meetings, the Bihar cabinet led by Nitish Kumar ratified an increment of 4 per cent in dearness allowance (DA) for all state government employees and pensioners. Providing major relief to the state employees, the government's latest announcement will increase DA from 42 per cent to 46 per cent.
The Department of Finance issued a press release following the cabinet decision stating that the state government employees/pensioners/family pensioners receiving salary/pension in the 7th Centrally Revised Pay Structure will be given 46% dearness allowance instead of 42% with effect from 01.07.2023.
The decision, considered a big announcement by the Nitish cabinet, will benefit about 5 lakh government employees and six lakh pensioners in the state.
Many other key decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting.
Taking to the microblogging site 'X', the Chief Minister of state, Nitish Kumar wrote, "In the caste-based calculation, about 94 lakh poor families have been found in Bihar, including all categories, an amount of up to Rs 2 lakh will be provided in instalments for employment to one member of each of those families. 63,850 The limit of Rs 60 thousand being given to houseless and landless families for purchasing land has been increased to Rs 1 lakh. Also, these families will be given Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand to build houses.

"Since a huge amount of money is required for these works, a target has been set to complete them in 5 years. If Bihar gets the status of a special state by the Central Government, then we will complete this work quickly," he said.
