Union Budget 2026: Every year, ahead of the Union Budget, the central government consults various stakeholders such as state governments, industry leaders, economists, and experts to seek their inputs for budget preparation.
At the same time, along with these stakeholders, common citizens can also contribute their suggestions, helping make the budget more inclusive, practical, and people-oriented.
Govt Invites Common Citizens' Suggestions
For the Union Budget 2026–27, the government has invited the public to share their views on issues like taxation, inflation, employment, education, healthcare, and economic growth. Announced through MyGov’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, this initiative encourages people from all sections of society to submit their ideas on the MyGov platform until January 16, allowing citizens to play an active role in shaping national policy ahead of the budget presentation on February 1.
"Share your inputs for the Union Budget. Contribute your suggestions for the Union Budget 2026–27 and help shape policies for inclusive growth. https://mygov.in/group-issue/inviting-ideas-and-suggestions-union-budget-2026-2027/," The X post said.

How Common Citizens Send Suggestions For the Budget
– You need to visit the official website, MyGov.in.
– At the home page, find and click on the Activities option.
– Now, you will have the Union Budget 2026-27 banner on the page.
– Click on this banner.
– Next, you need to log in to submit your opinion.
– Now, a comment box will open in front of you, where you can write your suggestions.
– According to the information provided on the portal, you can submit your suggestions for the Union Budget 2026-2027 to the government until January 16.
When is the Union Budget presented?
Since 2017, the Union Finance Minister has presented the Union Budget in Parliament on February 1. This year, the day falls on a Sunday; however, several media reports claimed that the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may present the budget on Sunday i.e. Sunday.
