Car sales In April 2024: Toyota Kirloskar and MG Motors India announced their sales figures for April 2024 on Wednesday. Toyota reported a 32 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth, while MG Motors India's sales fell by 1.45 percent YoY. The car and SUV sales in India have been witnessing growth every year. Being a vibrant market India is attracting global car makers on its soil.

Kirloskar Sales in April 2024

Toyota Kirloskar Motor stated on Wednesday that its wholesale sales in April increased by 32% year-over-year to 20,494 units. The automaker had delivered 15,510 units to its dealers in April 2023. The company stated in a statement that the growth momentum was maintained despite a one-week maintenance shutdown from April 6 for maintenance of machinery and equipment to maintain operational efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Last month, the company said its domestic sales stood at 18,700 units, while exports totaled 1,794 units.

"Our product strategy resonates the strong connect with the market thanks to the diversified portfolio," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business Sabari Manohar said.

MG Motors Sales

MG Motors India stated that its retail sales decreased 1.45 percent year-over-year to 4,485 units in April. The company reported sales of 4,551 units in April 2023. The company stated that its EV (electric vehicle) portfolio contributed 34% to the total units sold during the period.

Car sales in India have seen a YoY growth each year. All global automakers view India as a potential market. Domestic car and SUV manufacturers, such as Tata and Mahindra, are increasing their production capacity to meet demand. Many foreign companies also have production facilities in India.
