Defence Stock: The shares of Apollo Micro System rose nearly 9 per cent in intraday trade after the defence sector company reported a strong 171 per cent jump in its net profit for the fourth quarter of the last financial year (Q4 FY26). The company posted a net profit of Rs 38 crore in the quarter under review as compared to Rs 14 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

The stock traded nearly flat in most trading hours, but only skyrocketed in the closing hour, after the company announced the Q4 results. At closing, the defence stock settled at Rs 320, up Rs 25.45 or 8.64 per cent on NSE.

Earlier, in the morning, the stock opened flat at Rs 294.55. Meanwhile, its 52-week high and low values stood at Rs 354.70 and Rs 133.31, respectively.

Q4 Results

In an exchange filing, the company said that its net profit jumped to Rs 38 crore for Q4FY26 from Rs 14 crore in the corresponding quarter last year-- a surge of nearly 171 per cent.

Meanwhile, its revenue grew 81% year-on-year to Rs 293.2 crore from Rs 161.8 crore.

Earlier in April, the company received licenses from the Indian government to manufacture several advanced defence weapon systems and ammunition.

Issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the license has lifetime validity and authorises the company to manufacture, compile, and test high-end defence systems.

Stock Market Today

The Indian stock market ended the highly volatile session on a positive note on Monday amid buying of IT and some selected banking stocks. Sensex, the 30-share index of BSE, recovered over 1,100 points from the day's low--74,180.26--to close at 75,315.04, up 77 points or 0.10 per cent as compared to the last day's closing of 75,237.99.

The 30-share index traded sharply lower in early trade amid selling pressure due to a spike in crude prices--over $111 per barrel--however, the scenario flipped in the afternoon trade amid buying interest in selective sectors.

Meanwhile, Nifty50 ended the session at 23,649.95, up 6.45 points or 0.03 per cent.
