Stock Market Update: The Indian stock market ended the highly volatile session on a positive note on Monday amid buying of IT and some selected banking stocks. Sensex, the 30-share index of BSE, recovered over 1,100 points from the day's low--74,180.26--to close at 75,315.04, up 77 points or 0.10 per cent as compared to the last day's closing of 75,237.99.
The 30-share index traded sharply lower in early trade amid selling pressure due to a spike in crude prices--over $111 per barrel--however, the scenario flipped in the afternoon trade amid buying interest in selective sectors.
Meanwhile, Nifty50 ended the session at 23,649.95, up 6.45 points or 0.03 per cent.
"The prolonged stalemate between the US and Iran continues to cast a shadow over near-term sentiment, yet the equity market managed to recover intraday losses and closed on a flat note, supported by value buying in IT and banking stocks," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited.
The ongoing earnings season has provided a constructive narrative, though caution persists as higher bond yields, elevated crude oil prices, and a weakening rupee reinforce inflationary concerns. Investors appear to be adopting a staggered allocation strategy rather than waiting for complete clarity, particularly in export-oriented sectors, he added.

Rupee Hits Fresh All-Time Low
During the session, the Indian currency--Rupee traded sharply weaker near 96.35, down around 58 paise. The decline was driven by the continued rise in crude oil prices, and persistent foreign fund outflows kept heavy pressure on the currency.
"India’s high dependence on imported crude is worsening sentiment, with Brent crude staying elevated amid ongoing uncertainty around the US–Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz concerns," said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

"The broader trend for the rupee remains weak, with markets closely watching India’s strategic efforts to secure lower-cost oil and gas supplies to ease pressure on the import bill and forex reserves. Continued FII selling and global risk aversion are also adding to volatility in the currency market," Trivedi added.
