Domestic Air Traffic In 2023: The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that India's domestic air passenger traffic increased by 8.34 per cent year-on-year to 15.20 crore in the calendar year 2023.
As per DGCA data released on Monday, the total number of domestic passengers for the year ended December 31, 2022, was recorded at 12.32 crore.
However, domestic air passenger traffic increased by 23.36 per cent to 1.37 crore in December 2023, with 1.27 crore flown by all domestic carriers in 2022.

Indigo emerges as a market leader
In terms of total domestic passenger traffic, IndiGo flew 9.19 crore with a 60.5 per cent market share, followed by full-service carrier Air India with a 9.7 per cent market share carrying 1.47 domestic passengers.
Vistara, a joint venture between Air India and Singapore Airlines, has a market share of 9.1 per cent with 1.38 crore passengers in 2023, while Tata Group subsidiary AIX has a market share of 7.2 per cent with 1.08 crore passengers. According to statistics.
Similarly, budget aircraft company SpiceJet accounted for 5.5 per cent of total domestic passengers in 2023 as it carried a total of 83.90 lakh passengers during the period under review.
Newly launched Akasa Air flew 62.32 lakh passengers with a market share of 4.1 per cent.
However, AKasa Air recorded the highest on-time performance in 2023, with an average of 72.7 per cent departures from four major metro airports - Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, out of a total of 712 complaints, a maximum of 422 complaints have been filed against SpiceJet.
