Economic Survey 2024 Report:  Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday tabled the Economic Survey document in Parliament. The Survey is a comprehensive annual report of the Indian economy of the previous financial year. According to a survey, the real GDP growth for the financial year 2025 is to be between 6.5-7%.

Earlier In the latest monetary policy meeting, the Reserve Bank of India raised the GDP forecast for the current year 2024-25 from 7 to 7.2 percent. Whereas, the International Monetary Fund also raised India's GDP growth estimates for 2024 from the earlier 6.8 percent to 7 percent.

The economic survey 2024 report stated that despite various challenges India’s real GDP grew by 8.2 percent in financial year 2024. It had exceeded the 8 percent mark in three out of four quarters of the previous financial year.

What is an Economic survey?

The Economic Survey is an annual report or a comprehensive review of the Indian economy for the concluded financial year. Economics Division of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry prepares the report under the guidance of the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA). It is usually present before the announcement of the budget.

The economic survey report is seen as a summary of the government's economic performance including major developmental programs, and policies. The report also provides an outlook for the forthcoming financial year.
