EPF Withdrawal:  We all save money for some of our goals or any bad phases that may come in life. For savings, we Indians have a lot of options including saving accounts, Fixed Deposits, Recurring Deposits, Small Saving Schemes, and others. The thing is all these saving options come with their terms and conditions- Some allow immediate withdrawal and some have certain conditions. If you are dealing with a medical emergency?  and if you want to withdraw money from your Employee Provident Fund account then it is possible.

The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) allows its members to withdraw money to deal with medical emergencies, house construction, marriage, education, home loans, and other requirements.

What is the Employee Provident Fund (EPF)?

The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a retirement savings scheme. Under this, a portion of the salaried employees' salary is deposited every month and employers also have to contribute to it. The deposited money is released at the time of retirement. The scheme allows salaried employees to create a concrete fund in the long haul for old age. It is a risk-free saving instrument.

Withdrawal limit from PF for medical emergency

EPFO members can withdraw up to Rs 1 lakh in certain conditions like in a medical emergency or life-threatening situation. Previously, this money could be withdrawn based on the estimate provided by the hospital. Now, the limit has been set at Rs 1 lakh.

How to withdraw an advance from PF

- Visits e-service portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Log in using Universal Account Number (UAN), password, and captcha code.
- Next, you have to enter your bank account details and need to click the verify button by checking to accept the terms and conditions box.
- Now, click on online service click on the Online Service link, and select Claim Form-31 for the disease.
-  Click on 'Proceed for Online Claim'.

If the patient has been discharged from the hospital, the employee has to submit the medical bills to EPFO within 45 days so that withdrawing money from PF becomes easy and the service can be availed.
