FASTag KYC:  The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in a statement, said that it will disable FASTags of those who have not updated the KYC (Know Your Customer). The deadline for the same is January 31.

It is part of the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative, which aims to discourage the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles.

As per the NHAI statement, to avoid inconvenience, users should ensure that the KYC of their latest FASTag is completed.

After January 31, 2024, only the latest FASTag account will remain active as previous tags will be deactivated/blacklisted, the statement said.

The reason behind the action

The highway body said it took the initiative after it received reports that multiple FASTags were issued to a particular vehicle and FASTags were being issued without KYC in violation of the RBI order.

Sometimes deliberately many vehicle owners do not affix FASTag on the windshield of the vehicle, causing unnecessary delays at toll booths and inconvenience to people using national highways.
