New Delhi | Jagran Business Desk: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a National Infrastructure Pipeline for projects worth Rs 102 lakh crore on Tuesday. While addressing the media, Sitharaman said, "In line with the announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech this year, a task force was formed to identify projects to make infrastructure investment worth Rs 100 lakh crore for the next five years."

"Today, the task force has identified Rs 102 lakh crore worth of projects, after conducting 70 stakeholder consultations in a short period of four months," she added. 

The infrastructure projects will be implemented in the next five years as part of the government's spending push in the infrastructure sector. The minister said that another Rs 3 lakh crore projects are likely to be added to the pipeline.

The project comes on top of Rs 51 lakh crore spent by the centre and states in last six years, she informed adding new pipeline consists of 39 per cent projects each by centre and states and the balance by 22 per cent by private sector.

Sitharaman said that the projects identified are in sectors such as health and education, urban irrigation, railways, power and mobility. The minister went on to say that nearly Rs 25 lakh crore projects have been line up and another Rs 20 lakh crore in road and roughly Rs 14 lakh crore in railways have been lined up.

The finance minister said that projects in power, including railways, renewable sector, urban employment, health, water, education, mobility and digital sectors will form the bulk of the infrastructure investment under National Infrastructure Pipeline being announced on Tuesday.

She added that Rs 102 lak crore National Infrastructure Projects will help India emerge as USD 5 trillion economy by 2025.
