Campa Cola, the soft drinks brand owned by Reliance Consumer Products Ltd, the FMCG arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, is all set to open a new bottling plant in Bihar. The brand, which is owned by Reliance Consumer Products Ltd, will reportedly set up a new plant on 35 acres of land in Begusarai district of Bihar, investing around Rs 1,000 crore.
Confirming the development, Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority, an agency of the state government, said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that the plot has been allotted to EPIC Agro Products Ltd, a company producing and distributing campa kola.
The upcoming facility will combine both bottling and production operations. With a sharp focus on expanding its footprint in eastern and northeastern India, it marks a significant milestone in Campa Cola’s aggressive growth strategy.
The move comes two months after a similar plant was launched in Assam. In February this year, RCPL launched a new plant in Guwahati, Assam, strengthening Campacola’s presence in Northeast India.
Reliance, which entered the fast-growing beverage market after acquiring Kempa Cola in August 2022, has expanded its presence across the country by setting up the necessary infrastructure like supply chain, logistics network and bottling plant.
Competing directly with leading players in the cola segment, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, Campa has been disrupting the segment due to its aggressive pricing and high margins for the retailer. They have been forced to cut prices in selected markets where they can be found.
In its Q3 results on January 16, Reliance, which was aiming to be a relevant player in the FMCG segment, had projected that its Kempa brand would cross a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in FY25.
Under the Kempa brand, RCPL has launched an assortment of drinks like cola, orange, lemon and energy drinks. It has expanded its beverage portfolio with fruit-based rehydration drink Raskick and performance-based sports drink Spinner.
To support this scale-up, Reliance has set up multiple manufacturing plants across the country. Kempa made its international debut in the UAE and is gearing up to expand to other markets in the Middle East, Asian countries and the African continent.
This will be the second-largest investment from the beverage sector for Bihar.
Last month, Bihar invested Rs 1,000 crore in a plant in Buxar. SLMG Beverages, which has set up a new plant with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore, said it plans to start another similar plant with an additional investment of Rs 1,500 crore. The Ladhani Group, which owns SLMG Beverages, is Coca-Cola’s largest bottler.
