GST Collection In March 2025: The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in March 2025 grew by 9.9 per cent to Rs 19,56,034 crore (Rs 1.96 lakh crore) in March according to government data. The March month collection was 6.8 per cent higher than the Rs 1.84 lakh crore recorded in the previous month. According to the data, the total GST revenue last month comprised Central GST of Rs 38,100 crore, State GST of Rs 49,900 crore and Integrated GST of Rs 95,900 crore.  Rs 12,300 crore was collected from compensation cess.

In February, the GST collection grew by 9.1 per cent to Rs 183,646 crore.

Comparatively, the Central GST collection in February was Rs 35,204 crore and State GST collection was Rs 43,704 crore. The integrated GST is Rs 90,870 crore and the compensation cess is Rs 13,868 crore. The recent GST collections reflect a positive trajectory for the Indian economy, supported by strong domestic consumption and rising import activity. These figures bode well for the country's fiscal health and economic reform efforts, indicating resilience amid global uncertainty.

The Goods and Services Tax was implemented in the country from July 1, 2017 and states have been assured compensation for any revenue loss caused by the implementation of GST. The GST Council, a federal body with the Union Finance Minister as its chairman and all state finance ministers as members, played its role in this forum. The latest meeting of the GST Council was held on December 21 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

The prices of washing machines and mobile phones have been reduced substantially or some have been kept at zero, benefiting the public. This list is amended from time to time with the approval of the Council.
