Mahindra and Mahindra on Tuesday said that it is in the process of resolving a dispute with the IndiGo over the use of the "6e" call sign for its recently launched models of electric cars. This came after IndiGo filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court alleging trademark infringement by the automaker which moved trademark registration for its new electric vehicles BE 6e and XEV 9e.
Mahindra has clarified that IndiGo's standalone "6E" call sign, widely used in aviation and branding, does not conflict with its interests. In a stock exchange filing, the company stated that discussions are underway to resolve the matter amicably.
IndiGo has long used "6E" as its distinctive call sign, a unique identifier in the airline industry, and has built it into its brand identity.
The airline offers a range of 6E-branded services, including 6E Prime for seat selection, priority check-in, and snacks, as well as 6E Flex for easy rescheduling and cancellations. Additional services, such as extra baggage and lounge access, further enhance the passenger experience.
According to a News18 report, the company also registered a new trademark "6E Link" in 2015, highlighting its association with the trademark.
