Chris Kempczynski, McDonald's CEO, said many markets in the Middle East and some outside the region are experiencing a "significant business impact" due to the Israel-Hamas war, as well as misinformation about the brand.
The majority of Western fast-food chains, including McDonald's and Starbucks, have experienced boycott campaigns for their pro-Israel stance.

The misinformation spreading around brands like McDonald's is "disappointing and ridiculous." "In every country where we operate, including Muslim countries, McDonald's is proudly represented by locally owned managers who work tirelessly to serve and support their communities, working for thousands of their fellow citizens," he said.
In October, McDonald's Israel posted on its social media accounts that it had distributed thousands of free meals to Israeli Defense Force soldiers.
