Best Government Schemes For Girl Childs:  Planning and investing systematically is important to secure your child's financial future. There are many schemes and investment options offered by the Union and state governments to children, especially girls child.

Below we have listed 3 government-run schemes that would be the best option to secure Gilr's child's future.

Sukanya Samridhi Yojna

Sukanya Samridhi Yojana is a government-backed small savings scheme for daughters. Under the scheme, Parents are required to pay at least Rs 250/year. The Sukanya Samridhi Account can be opened anytime after the birth of a girl child till she reaches the age of 10 years. Parents need to deposit a minimum of Rs. 250 and a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakhs per year in SSY account.

The SSY account is valid for up to 21 years from the date of opening or till marriage after the girl turns 18. A partial withdrawal of 50 per cent of the balance is allowed after he turns 18. This should be for her higher education expenses requirement.

For the January-March quarter, SSY offers an interest rate of 8.2 per cent. Please note that the union government revises the interest rate of this scheme every quarter.

Balika Smriddhi Yojana

Balika Samridhi Yojana applies to girls and children belonging to families living Below the Poverty Line (BPL). According to the website of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, here are the benefits girls will get under this scheme:

- Girl Child Would get Rs 500 Post Birth
- A girl child born on or after 15/8/1997 under the Balika Samridhi Yojana will be eligible for the annual scholarship.

Class I-III: For each class Rs 300 per annum
Class IV: Rs 500 In a Year
Class V: Rs 600 In a Year
Class VI-VII: For each class Rs 700 Per annum
Class VIII: Rs 800 Annually
Class IX-X: for each class Rs 1,000/ Yearly

UDAAN CBSE Scholarship Program

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), initiated UDAAN to address the low enrollment of girls in prestigious engineering institutes. The scheme was brought to bridge the gap between school education and engineering entrance examinations.

Eligibility for UDAAN Scheme

- According to the HRD Website, all girls studying in class XI in KVs/NVs/Government schools, which must be affiliated by recognised board/CBSE affiliated private schools in India are eligible to apply under the UDAAN CBSE Scholarship Programme.

- Students will be selected based on merit and considered against the candidate's chosen city for weekly virtual classes.

- Girl students taking admission in Class 11 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) stream.

- CGPA of minimum 70 per cent marks in class X and 80 per cent marks in science and mathematics. A minimum 8 CGPA and 9 GPA in science and mathematics are needed for boards that follow CGPA to apply for a scholarship.

- Family Annual income Should be less than 6 lakhs.
