Osamu Suzuki death: Osamu Suzuki, former Suzuki Motor Corp's Chairman passed away at the age of 94. He died due to lymphoma on December 25, the company said in a statement. Osamu led one of the largest global car manufacturing companies for over forty years, before retiring in 2021. He was 91 years old at the time of retirement.
Born in 1930 in Jiro, Gifu Prefecture, Osamu Suzuki had a life-changing encounter by marrying into the Suzuki family, adopting their surname and eventually becoming the top head of the company. In 1958, Osamu Suzuki started at Suzuki Motor Corporation and then progressively made his way up the corporate ladder until he was finally named president and CEO in 1978. Osamu Suzuki assumed the role of chairman of the company in 2000, which he would retain until his retirement.
Osamu Suzuki was a great leader, whose leadership saw the increase of Suzuki Motor and even worldwide expansion. He headed the company as president for 28 years, wherein he saw so much growth that the company became among the top makers of automobile vehicles. He stepped down as chairman in 2015 and continued to head the company until a small fuel economy misstatement issue forced him to vacate the chief executive officer's seat.
Early Life:
Osamu continued his law studies at Chuo University in Tokyo while working as a junior high school teacher and night watchman to fund himself. After graduating in 1953, he joined a bank but eventually left that job to join Suzuki Motor after his marriage, starting an incredible career in the automotive world.
