Paytm FASTag: The banking sector in India has been emerging as one of the best digital service providers in the world. In the last 10 years, especially after demonetisation in 2016, people have shifted towards digital payment in masses. It was the time when got extensive acceptance for everything from small and big payments to FASTag.
In India, a lot of vehicles have FASTags issued by Paytm, and a majority of them are linked to Paytm bank accounts. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken regulatory action against Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL). Following this, all the Paytm Payment Bank services including Fastag will be affected.
Amid the crisis over Paytm Payment Bank, a lot of questions like Can FASTag be ported? will it have to be deactivated? are hovering in the customer's mind. Customers have also started figuring out how one switch to another FASTag.
As per RBI's January 31 order, Paytm Payment Bank will have to stop accepting deposits or 'top-up' customers' accounts, wallets, Fastag and other products after February 29.

Step to deactivate Paytm FASTag
- Login to the FASTag Paytm portal using user ID, wallet ID and password.
- Next. You need to verify the FASTag number, registered mobile number and other information.
- Scroll down the page and click on the Help and Support option.
- Next, click on ‘Need Help With Non-Order Related Queries’
- Select the Queries option related to updating the FASTag profile
- Choose, the 'I want to close my Fastag' option and follow the further steps.
Remember, once it is deactivated, you cannot activate the same Fastag again.
How to port Paytm's FASTag
- To port or transfer FASTag, you need to call the customer care of the bank to which you are transferring your FASTag.
- Tell them you want to switch your FASTag.
- Provide the required information and the porting will be done.
