The prices of petrol and diesel are updated every day as Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) announce the daily rate at 6 in the morning concerning the crude oil price in the global market and fluctuating currency exchange rates. The daily revision is intended to promote transparency and update customers with the latest rate.

The prices of petrol and diesel have been stagnant since May 2022 after a tax cut by the central and multiple state governments. Oil Marketing Companies are bound to release updates on prices daily at 6 in the morning, aligning them to the inconsistent global oil market. 

The oil rates depend on many factors; a few prime factors affecting oil rates are fluctuating market rates and regulatory measures like excise duties charged on imports and tax collection by the centre and state governments.

You can check the daily revision of oil prices using sms service. To check the prices of petrol and diesel, you text the city code followed by “RSP" to 9224992249. BPCL customers can send “RSP" to 9223112222, and HPCL customers can text “HP Price" to 9222201122 to receive the current fuel prices.
