Samsung Layoff:  Samsung Electronics is reportedly planing  cut jobs at executive level from its Indian business following the slowdown in business. According to media reports, the company could lay off workers across sales, marketing, and operations and the Job losses might be in hundreds in numbers. 

Employees in mobile phones and consumer electronics to face major job cut

The report claimed that the layoffs would be in mobile phones, home appliances, and support functions, consumer electronics, accounting for about 9-10% of its total operational workforce.
The report adds that the dismissed workers were paid a severance package of three months' salary and one month's salary for each year of service as per the employment contract.

Samsung Workers protested at the Chennai plant

Workers at Samsung's Chennai plant went on an indefinite strike for the third day, which has affected production of televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines ahead of the festive season. The company is still attempting to run the plant at about 50-80% of its capacity, news agency Reuters reported.

The report alleges that Samsung is planning to reorganize its operations, which could involve the consolidation of some business divisions such as televisions and home appliances. This could result in additional layoffs, according to executives, according to the report, and the move is aimed to lower management levels, manpower, overhead cuts, and inefficiencies.
