Silver Rate Today: The precious metals prices corrected sharply on Monday after a steep rally over the past week, with the Silver price falling over Rs 5,000 and the gold price dipping more than Rs 1,800 during the trading session on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

The MCX's silver future contract expiring on March 5, 2026, closed at Rs 2,34,712 per kilogram (Kg), down Rs 5,075 or 2.12 per cent from the last session's closing of Rs 2,39,787.

Similarly, the MCX's Gold February 5 expiry ended at Rs 1,38,063 per 10 grams, down Rs 1,810 or 1.29 per cent against the previous closing of Rs 1,39,873.

Silver Price Surges In Retail Market

However, white metal prices jumped in the retail market. According to the India Bullion Jewellers Association (IBJA), Silver closed at Rs 2,35,440 per kg, up Rs 3,3340 against Friday's closing of Rs 2,32,100 per kg.

Meanwhile, the 24-carat gold price dipped marginally by Rs 581 per 10 grams to settle at Rs 1,36,781, down from last week's closing of Rs 1,37,362.

The metal prices fell in the international market, too. At Comex, gold slipped $70.20 or 1.54 per cent per ounce to Rs $4,482.70. Comex Silver plunged 3.18 per cent or $2.45 per ounce to Rs $74.740.

Meanwhile, the domestic equity indices--Nifty and Sensex-- closed in negative territory, continuing the losing streak for the fourth consecutive session.

The market's momentum was dragged down by heavy selling in IT, realty, pharma and auto stocks.

Sensex, the 30-share index of BSE, settled at 84,695.54, down 345.91 points, or 0.41 per cent. Nifty 50 fell 100.20 points to close at 25,942.10.
