Stock Market Holidays 2026: According to the official 2026 holiday calendar released by the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Indian Stock Markets will remain open for trading on New Year's Day, January 1, 2026. While many institutions observe a public holiday on New Year’s Day, the Indian stock markets will follow their standard schedule.

Both the NSE and BSE have confirmed that equity, equity derivatives, and currency derivatives segments will function normally on New Year's Day.

Stock Market Holidays In 2026

According to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) 2026 holiday calendar, the Indian Stock Market will witness fifteen trading holidays in the year 2026, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to these closures, the NSE has also marked four more holidays that fall on weekends when the market is already shut. These include Mahashivratri, Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid), Independence Day and Diwali Laxmi Pujan.
