The multi-commodity exchange will remain closed during the morning session but is scheduled to open for trading during the evening session (5:00-11:30 p.m.). In the entire 2023 calendar year, the markets observe a total of 15 annual holidays, which is two more than the previous year.

The Sensex benchmark index experienced a drop of more than 800 points on Monday, driven by concerns about instability in West Asia and the anticipated increase in interest rates in the United States.

"Despite the healthy performance of private banks and marginal reductions in oil prices, investor confidence remained pessimistic, and a widespread consolidation persisted in the domestic markets," Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services, was quoted as saying by The Economic Times.

The Indian equity indices ended on a lower note for the fourth consecutive day on Monday’s trading session amid weak global markets. At close, the Sensex was down 825.74 points or 1.26 percent at 64,571.88, and the Nifty was down 260.90 points or 1.34 percent at 19,281.80.
