Stock Market Holidays: Indian stock markets, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will be closed on Monday, March 31, in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr (EGR) will not be possible to trade.
The stock market in India remains operational from Monday to Friday and closed on weekends. Business activities are also suspended as a result of public holidays and festivals listed on the official holiday calendar at the beginning of the year. These holidays give traders and investors a chance to relax and enjoy themselves without worrying about market swings.
With March 29 (Saturday) and March 30 (Sunday) already being non-business days, businesses will be given an extended break for the additional Monday closure. Business as usual will resume on Tuesday, April 1st.
Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivals in Islam, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan observed by Muslims around the world. The festival marks the breaking of the fast and is observed with prayers, charity, and feasting, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

Stock Market Timing
From Monday to Friday, BSE and NSE operate as per regular trading schedules, with equity trading hours falling between 9:15 am and 3:30 pm. Regular business occurs during the week, excluding weekends and public holidays.
List of Stock Market Holidays In 2025
The Indian stock market will be closed on several public holidays in 2025. Trading will be suspended for Sri Mahavir Jayanti on April 10, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, and Good Friday on April 18. Besides Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31. No trading on May 1 Maharashtra Day. Another market holiday is celebrated on August 15, Independence Day, which also happens to be the Persian New Year. Shri Ganesh Chaturthi will also be observed as a holiday in August The market will be closed for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on October 2. Diwali is two consecutive holidays, Lakshmi Poojan on October 21 and Balipratipada on October 22. The year-end market will be closed on December 25 for Christmas, and on November 5 to mark Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary Gurpurab.
