Stock Market Holiday:  The domestic equity market will be closed on Wednesday, October 2 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.  Trading on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also remain shut on lise of BSE and NSE. Gandhi Jayanti is a National Holiday that is observed in all states of the nation. Apart from October 2, Independence Day on August 15 and Republic Day on January 26 are another two holidays that are observed across the nation.

Trading in the equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments will be suspended. Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange will suspend trading for both sessions on Gandhi Jayanti-October 2. The markets will resume Regular operations will resume on October 03, allowing investors to trade.

In October, no holidays will be observed in the stock market other than Gandhi Jayanti. On October 31st, a Muhurat trading session will be held on the auspicious occasion of Lakshmi Puja or Diwali.

Bank Holiday on Gandhi Jayanti

Banks throughout India will be closed on Wednesday, October 2, to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is celebrated in India with Gandhi Jayanti festivities. The United Nations recognizes this day as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Banks will be closed for a total of 15 days in various states for state-specific festivals in October. Bank holidays cover all Sundays, in addition to the second and fourth Saturdays.
