Stock Market Holiday On Maha Shivratri: Indian stock market exchanges NSE, and BSE which are represented by the benchmark indices Nifty50 and Sensex, will remain closed on Wednesday i.e. February 26, 2025, on the occasion of the Hindu festival Maha Shivratri.
Maha Shivaratri is dedicated to Lord Shiva, celebrated annually in Hindu families in Phalgun month i.e. between February and March. As per the Hindu calendar, the festival falls on the fourteenth day of the first half of the month of Phalguna.
To celebrate the festival not only the stock market but banks, institutions and schools will also remain closed in the majority of states across the nation.
Stock Market Today
The major domestic indices Sensex and Nifty traded at record highs on Tuesday, snapping 5-day losses. At around 12:00 pm, Nifty was up 5 points and Sensex was up 163 points. In intraday trade till the above-mentioned time, Sensex had risen to 74,785.08, while Nifty touched 22,625.30.
The Indian stock market has been under pressure for the past five months due to continuous FII outflows, weak quarters and global geopolitical developments.

Share Market Holiday Calendar 2025
February - The markets will remain closed on Maha Shivratri
March- The stock market has two holidays in the month: Holi on March 14 (Friday) and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31 (Monday).
April: In April, there are three holidays: Shri Mahavir Jayanti on April 10 (Thursday), Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 (Monday), and Good Friday on April 18 (Friday).
The first half of the year's market holidays conclude with Maharashtra Day on May 1 (Thursday).
August- The markets will be closed on Independence Day on August 15 (Friday) and Ganesh Chaturthi on August 27 (Wednesday).
October - In October, three holidays are scheduled: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra on October 2 (Thursday), Diwali Lakshmi Puja on October 21 (Tuesday), and Diwali-Bali Pratipada on October 22 (Wednesday).
November and December: The last two holidays of the year are Shri Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Gurupurab on November 5 (Wednesday) and Christmas on December 25 (Thursday).
