Stock Market: Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rose to all-time highs on Thursday, after buying in market heavyweights ICICI Bank, Infosys, and TCS amid a largely positive trend in global stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 62.87 points or 0.08 percent to settle at a new closing peak of 80,049.67. During the day, it rose 405.84 points to reach a new all-time high of 80,392.64.

The Nifty index rose 15.65 points or 0.06 percent to settle at a record closing peak of 24,302.15. During the day, it rose 114.5 points to reach a new all-time high of 24,401.

Among Sensex group stocks, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra and Mahindra were the gainers.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, HDFC Bank, UltraTech Cement, and IndusInd Bank were among the laggards.

In Asian markets, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Seoul ended in the positive zone, while Shanghai closed in the red zone. European markets were trading in the green in mid-session deals. US markets ended higher on Wednesday during the shortened trading session. Stock exchanges will remain closed on Thursday on the occasion of Independence Day.

The price of global benchmark Brent crude fell by 0.52 percent to $86.89 per barrel.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 5,483.63 crore on Wednesday, according to stock exchange data. On Wednesday, the 30-stock index reached the historic 80,000-point level for the first time during intraday trading. The index rose 632.85 points, or 0.79 percent, to a record high during the day at 80,074.30 points. The index later closed near the 80,000-point level at 79,986.80 points, up 545.35 points, or 0.69 percent, from the previous close.

The Nifty index rose 162.65 points or 0.67 percent to close at an all-time high of 24,286.50. During the day, it rose 183.4 points, or 0.76 percent, to reach a new record intraday peak of 24,307.25.
