Stock Market: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday, snapping a two-day winning streak, in line with weak global market trends amid concerns over the tariff threats by Donald Trump, who will be sworn in as US President on January 20. The 30-share Sensex ended 105.79 points, or 0.13 per cent, lower at 80,004.06. During the day, it fell 311.18 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 79,798.67. The broader NSE Nifty fell 27.40 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 24,194.50.

Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, NTPC, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro and Power Grid were the top losers among the 30-share Sensex pack. Infosys, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, JSW Steel and Reliance Industries were the top gainers.

Global stock markets fell following concerns over Trump's remarks that he plans to impose new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as soon as he takes office. Asian markets were down with Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai trading lower while Hong Kong gained. European markets were lower. US markets closed in the positive zone on Monday.

All Adani Group stocks ended lower, with Adani Green Energy falling 7.05 per cent. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.71 per cent to $73.58 per barrel. Benchmark equity indices rose on Monday, aided by the BJP's stellar performance in Maharashtra, which led to the party's landslide victory in the state assembly elections.

The BSE benchmark jumped 992.74 points, or 1.25 per cent, to close at 80,109.85 on Monday. The Nifty rose 314.65 points, or 1.32 per cent, to 24,221.90. After continuous selling for the last several days, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned buyers on Monday. According to exchange data, they bought shares worth Rs 9,947.55 crore.
