"In view of the ongoing situation, an additional emergency helpline has been activated to support distressed Indian citizens in Sri Lanka. The Indian Embassy is providing all possible assistance to stranded Indian nationals," Indian Embassy posted.

Cyclone Ditwah Live Update: The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday said that they have identified nearly 7,900 pregnant women nearing delivery in the districts, where Cyclone Ditwah is expected to bring more rainfall. Out of them, 375 have already been shifted to hospitals as a precautionary measure. Andhra Pradesh Medical, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Veerapandian said that the Medical and Health Department is taking steps to move the remaining women to nearby hospitals to ensure timely medical care.

Cyclone Ditwah Live Update: The Indian Air Force in its across day mission rescued a total of 45 stranded passengers in close coordination with Sri Lankan authorities in the landslide-affected Kotmale region, which remains completely cut off by road. The IAF said, "Across the day’s missions, IAF helicopters evacuated a total of 45 stranded passengers, including 6 critical casualties and 4 infants, and brought them safely to Colombo. These included 12 Indian nationals and over 30 foreign nationals from countries such as Germany, South Africa, Slovenia, the UK, Poland, Belarus, Iran, Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh, along with Sri Lankan citizens."

Cyclone Ditwah Tracker Live: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar informed that India supplied approx. 10 tons of supplies to Sri Lanka in another C130J plane. He said, "Another Indian Air Force C130J carrying approx 10 tons of disaster response supplies, BHISHM Cubes and a medical team for on-site training & support has landed in Colombo"

As per the latest update, Ditwah lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Tamilnadu-Puducherry coasts moved nearly northwards with the speed of 12 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of today about 100 km east-southeast of Cuddalore, 100 km east-northeast of Karaikal, 110 km southeast of Puducherry, 140 km northeast of Vedaranniyam and 180 km south-southeast of Chennai. The minimum distance of the centre of the cyclone from north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts is about 70km.

In its latest update, the India Meteorological Department said that Cyclone Ditwah’s centre is about 80 km from the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast. The storm, moving north at 7 kmph, is currently near latitude 11.5°N and longitude 80.6°E, around 100-170 km away from key coastal regions such as Cuddalore, Puducherry, Karaikal, Vedaranniyam, and Chennai.

The Indian Air Force has deployed C-130J transport aircraft and positioned Mi-17 V5 helicopters in Colombo to support swift relief operations in Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu, officials said Sunday. 

According to several private weather bloggers quoted by HT, the cyclone is expected to weaken further into a deep depression and then into a depression as it gradually moves northward later in the evening.

An NDRF team of 30 rescuers from the 10th battalion has been stationed in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore as a precaution against Cyclone Ditwah, which originated in the Bay of Bengal. Speaking to ANI, Assistant Commander Pavan confirmed that the team is in constant coordination with district and state authorities, and there have been no reported losses so far.

Speaking to ANI, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran said that all necessary measures have been taken to tackle 'Cyclone Ditwah'. 38 relief camps have been set up across the state, including nine in Pudukkottai, 10 in Nagapattinam, seven in Viluppuram, and others in Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ranipet, and Chengalpattu, accommodating 2,391 people.,

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone’s centre is currently about 70 km from the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast. It is expected to move northwards, parallel to the coast, over the next 24 hours. By this afternoon and evening (30th November), the storm may come as close as 60 km and 30 km from the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline, respectively, ANI reported.

Cyclone Ditwah has caused widespread damage across the delta districts, leaving at least three dead in Tamil Nadu. According to Minister KKSSR Ramachandran, 149 cattle have died, and around 57,000 hectares of farmland have been affected by rain-related incidents.

The IMD said sea conditions are expected to remain high until November 30, gradually easing to very rough or rough by the morning of December 1, Monday, with further improvement expected afterwards.

The IMD reported that Cyclone Ditwah has been moving northward at 12 kmph over the southwest Bay of Bengal, with its centre located about 70 km from the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast as of 8:30 AM.

Due to heavy rains over the past few days, brought on by Cyclone Ditwah, rainwater has collected outside the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) of the Arulmigu Vedaranyeswara Swamy Temple, ANI reported. 

The name ‘Ditwah’ was suggested by Yemen and refers to a 'lagoon'. It is believed to be derived from the Detwah Lagoon, a large saline water body located on the northwest coast of Socotra, Hindustan Times report stated.

In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the storm over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to move northwards along the north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts and is expected to avoid making landfall.

While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Cuddalore and Puducherry on Sunday morning, the overall nowcast for Tamil Nadu shows a yellow alert. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Cuddalore and Puducherry, as per the latest IMD update.

According to the IMD latest update, Cyclone Ditwah is expected to move northwards parallel to the North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts over the next 24 hours. "It is very likely to move nearly northwards parallel to North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts during next 24 hours. While moving northwards the cyclonic storm will be centered over southwest Bay of Bengal within a minimum distance of 70 km and 30 km from the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline by noon and evening of today, the 30th November respectively," the IMD said. 

The district administration is on high alert due to Cyclone Ditwah, which caused heavy rainfall in several areas. Floodwater from upper catchment areas has led to a strong inflow of floodwater into the Somasila reservoir, causing the Penna River to flow strongly, news agency ANI reported.

Cyclone Ditwah, which moved out of Sri Lanka on Saturday afternoon, caused widespread devastation. The Disaster Management Centre reported 159 deaths and 203 people missing following a week of heavy rains brought by the storm.

In view of Cyclone Ditwah moving closer to the Tamil Nadu coast. Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, conducted a review of preparedness measures with the General Manager and teams of Southern Railways. The review aimed to ensure minimal disruption to rail services and safety of passengers in coastal areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), districts under alert include Ariyalur, Chengalpattu, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Ranipet, Thanjavur, Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Thiruvarur, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, and Viluppuram, along with Puducherry and Karaikal areas.,

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Chennai, Cuddalore, and several other districts in Tamil Nadu for 30 November, warning residents to stay vigilant and follow weather updates closely.

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning as Cyclone Ditwah moved closer to the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast and is expected to make landfall today. "The Cyclonic storm over the southwest Bay of Bengal is moving north–northwest and is expected near the North Tamil Nadu–Puducherry–South Andhra Pradesh coast by early November 30. Residents are advised to follow safety instructions and stay indoors during severe weather," the IMD bulletin read.

As Cyclone Ditwah inches closer towards the Tamil Nadu coast, the Chennai Airport has cancelled 47 flights scheduled for Sunday in view of intense rainfall. Among the cancellations, 36 are domestic flights, while 11 are international.

Strong winds and rough sea conditions were witnessed at Marina Beach in Chennai as Cyclone Ditwah intensified. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is expected to make landfall later today.

The IMD has urged residents to stay indoors, avoid coastal areas, and follow local authorities’ instructions. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea along the affected coasts.
