Union Budget 2025: Announcing the Schedule for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, CEC Rajiv Kumar on Tuesday said the Election Commission will write to the Cabinet Secretary to not take any Delhi-specific measures in the Union Budget that may disturb the level playing field.

Chief Election Commissioner Kumar announced that polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.

Asked about the Union Budget scheduled just days before the elections, the CEC said the Commission will write to the Cabinet Secretary to not take any Delhi-specific measures in the Union Budget that may disturb the level playing field.

According to the announcement, the last date for submitting nominations will be January 17 and Candidates can withdraw their nominations by January 20.

The Chief Election Commissioners also announced the schedule for by-elections in two assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh's Milkipur and Tamil Nadu's Erode. For this reason, the elections will be held on the day of the Delhi elections.

Union Budget 2025 Date

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-2026 on February 1.
