UP Budget 2025 Key Announcement: The Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh presented a historic budget of 8,08,736 crore for the financial year 2025-2026 in the local assembly in Lucknow. This is the biggest budget so far in the history of Uttar Pradesh. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna while presenting the budget said that this budget is an important step towards the economic development and social welfare of the state.
The finance minister informed the house that this year's budget is 9.8 per cent higher than the budget for the year 2024-2025, which will accelerate the economic growth of the state. The total budget (including supplementary budget) of last year (2024-25) was about Rs 7.66 lakh crore.
Khanna said in his budget speech that 22 per cent of the budget has been allocated for development purposes, 13 per cent for education, 11 per cent for agriculture and allied services, and 6 per cent for health. Uttar Pradesh Budget 2025: Key Announcements
Focus on religious tourism
- Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple Corridor (Mathura-Vrindavan): Rs 1000 crore for land acquisition. This includes investment of Rs 100 crore and construction of Rs 100 crore. Rs 50 crore has been allocated.
- Development of our Vindhyavasini Temple (Mirzapur): Rs 1000 for land acquisition. Rs 100 crore has been allocated, additional Rs 100 crore has been allocated for the development of the Parikrama Path and public amenities for our Vindhyavasini, our Ashtabhuja and our Kali Kho Temples. Rs 100 crore has been allocated.
- Temple Restoration: Rs 1000 crore for restoration and reconstruction of protected temples. A budget of Rs 30 crore has been allocated for this.
Infrastructure boost: Budget allocation for 4 expressways
- Agra-Lucknow Expressway to Ganga Expressway: A new greenfield expressway will connect Agra-Lucknow Expressway to Ganga Expressway at Kausia, Hardoi via Farrukhabad, the project is worth Rs 12.50 crore. Rs 900 crore has been allocated.
- Vindhya Expressway: This corridor connects Ganga Expressway to Sonbhadra via Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Chandauli, which will cost Rs 12.50 crore. It will be started with an initial allocation of Rs 50 crore.
Ganga Expressway Extension: A new route connecting Meerut to Haridwar, will be built for Rs 1.50 crore. Rs 50 crore has been allocated.
Bundelkhand Rewa Expressway: This project is being implemented for Rs 12.50 crore. It was proposed with an initial allocation of Rs 50 crore.
Defence Corridor
Additionally, Rs 100 crore has been sanctioned for the Defence Industrial Corridor project along the Bundelkhand Expressway. Rs 461 crore has been allocated for this, which will enhance the industrial and defence manufacturing capabilities of the state.
AI City in Lucknow
The budget also highlights technological advancements, with Rs 100 crore earmarked for the development of Artificial Intelligence City in Lucknow. Rs 5 crore has been allocated. Additionally, Rs 100 crore has been allocated to set up a Technology Translation Research Park as a part of the Cyber Security Initiative. Rs 3 crore has been allocated.
Rs 2,000 crore for cattle management
The state government has allocated Rs 2,000 crore for the care of stray animals and Rs 140 crore for setting up large animal care centres.
