Uttarakhand News:  The government of Uttarakhand, on Friday, announced the Diwali bonus for the state government employees ahead of the festivities. The Chief Minister of State, Pushkar Singh Dhami, took to 'X' (formerly Twitter) to announce ad-hoc bonuses to all non-gazetted employees of Groups C, D and B.

The official channel of the CM's office posted, "Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has given the gift of bonus to the state employees on Diwali. The Chief Minister has directed to give ad-hoc bonuses to all the non-gazetted employees of Group C, D and Group B."

About 1.30 lakh employees of the state with grade pay up to Rs 4800 will get the benefit. An amount of upto Rs 7,000 will be credited to the accounts of eligible employees as an ad-hoc bonus. After the approval of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Additional Secretary – Finance Secretary Ganga Prasad issued this order on Friday evening. Non-gazetted category state employees, work-charged personnel of government departments, aided educational and technical educational institutions, employees of local bodies and district panchayats will get the benefit of the bonus. Additionally, casual and daily wage employees will also get benefits.

In a conversation with English Jagran, one employee who works as a headmaster in the education department, Shivkumar Saini expressed happiness over the decision of the state government. While thanking the CM, he said, "This is a big decision, [the] government understands the sentiment of the people and we thank CM Dhami for this Diwali gift."

Who will get the Diwali bonus?
Bonus will be given to employees up to grade pay of Rs 4800. Only those employees will be eligible who were in service on 31st March 2023 and have rendered at least six months of continuous and satisfactory service till 31st March 2023. Based on a service period of thirty days, they will get a maximum bonus of up to seven thousand rupees. Daily wage employees who have worked for at least 250 days every year for three years or more. Employees working for at least 206 days every year in departments with a five-day week will also be eligible. The bonus amount for these employees will be up to Rs 1184.

Who will not?
These will not be eligible: Employees against whom departmental disciplinary action is going on, or a criminal case is pending in the court, will not get the benefit of a bonus. Their bonus will be considered only after they are acquitted. Along with this, employees who have been punished in any departmental disciplinary proceeding or criminal case will also not get a bonus. Ad-hoc bonuses will not be admissible to employees who have been suspended for any period in the financial year. He will be eligible for the bonus only after his reinstatement.
