American billionaire investor and philanthropist, Warren Buffett, has again made headlines with a hefty donation to the Gates Foundation and four family charities. Buffett, who has an estimated net worth of USD 152 billion, has donated over 10 million shares of his firm, Berkshire Hathaway, worth USD 6 billion.
According to a report by Reuters, Warren Buffett donated a total of 9.43 million shares to the Gates Foundation and 9,43,384 shares to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation. He also donated 6,60,366 shares to charities run by his three children, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation and the NoVo Foundation.
This is the biggest-ever donation Warren Buffett has made since he started donating his wealth two decades ago. As a result of the massive donation, Warren Buffett will now be the world's sixth richest person. Before the donations, his net worth was recorded at USD 152 billion, as per Forbes. The latest donation also surpassed his previous record of donating USD 5.3 billion in June last year. He also donated USD 1.4 billion in November last year to family-run charity organisations.

According to Reuters, Warren Buffett still owns 13.8 per cent of Berkshire stocks. Buffett had pledged not to sell any of his shares in Berkshire, but he changed his will in 2024 and allocated 99.5 per cent of his remaining fortune to the charitable trusts run by his three children.
Buffett began donating his wealth in 2006. Buffett has been at the helm of Berkshire since 1965. He also owns nearly 200 businesses and dozens of stocks, including Apple and American Express. His daughter, Susie Buffett, heads the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named after her mother, that funds reproductive health.
His son, Howard, who heads the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, focuses on global hunger, combating human trafficking and mitigating conflicts. The NoVo Foundation, led by his son Peter, focuses on marginalised girls and women and on indigenous communities.
