India's leading tech firm Wipro filed a case against the company's former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jatin Dalal in a civil court in Bengaluru as he joined Cognizant as CFO. The next hearing of the case is to be held on January 3.
Earlier, Wipro also filed a case against its former SVP and health care and medical devices head Mohammad Haq. Haq has joined Cognizant as SVP and Business Unit Head for Life Sciences.
However, the reason for these lawsuits filed by Wipro is not clear, but according to the information received from the hearing of both parties, the dispute has deepened between the company and individuals. The court will probably pronounce its order at the next hearing.
As per the information, Jatin Dalal joined Cognizant as CFO on 1 December. Meanwhile, The first hearing in the case took place on November 28. Jatin Dalal has applied to Section 8 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. In this, the judiciary has the right to direct the party for arbitration.
However, cognizant and Wipro have not issued any statement about the issue. Jatin Dalal worked at Wipro for nearly two decades. He has held the post of CFO since 2015. He had the additional responsibility of President in Wipro from the year 2019 as well.
Dalal resigned from Wipro's CFO post of CFO in September 2023 and joined Cognizant. He has been CFO of Wipro since 2015. He was relieved from the services of the company on 30 November and Aparna Iyer took charge as the new CFO at Wrippo in place of Dalal. As far as Mohammad Haq is concerned, he has been the former Senior Vice President at Wipro and Head of Healthcare and Medical Devices for America. Wipro has filed a complaint against him in a US court.
