Fraudsters have increased the supply of fake Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes in the country after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of high denomination Rs 2,000 from circulation last month. The central bank has set September 30, 2023, as the last day to exchange or deposit the withdrawn Rs 2000 banknotes.
Since the RBI’s announcement, people are becoming victims of fake currency almost every day.
Counterfeiters now make fake notes in such a professional manner that no one can identify them at first sight. So in such a situation, the question which arises is how can you differentiate between real and fake notes of 100, 200 and 500 rupees that are there in the market? In this article, we will guide you on what are the ways to identify real and fake notes of Rs. 100, Rs. 200, and Rs. 500.
How to identify fake note of 100 rupees?
You can identify the original 100 rupee note by the “see through register”. On the 100 rupee note, it is like a floral design, which is made on the vertical band next to the watermark. It has '100' written on it, but it is only visible when you see it in the light.
Apart from this, you can also see the picture of Gandhiji in a lighter shade in the watermark of the note. Here you will also see 100 found written on it, this can be seen clearly when slightly tilted.
Besides, one can also see India and RBI written on the 2mm security thread on the note. It appears in blue and green when viewed from different angles. Apart from this, if you try to look in between Mahatma Gandhi and the vertical band with a magnifying glass, you will find RBI and 100 written on it.
How to identify fake 200 rupee note?
In the original note of 200 rupees, you will find 200 written in Devanagari. Apart from this, there will be a photo of Mahatma Gandhi in the middle. In the original note, you will find 'RBI', 'Bharat', 'INDIA' and '200' written in micro letters.
On the original Rs 200 note, you will find 'India' and RBI written on the security thread. On the right side of the note, you can see the Ashoka Pillar emblem.
How to identify fake Rs. 500 notes?
Like Rs 200, the photo of Mahatma Gandhi is printed in the middle of the Rs 500 note and 500 is written in Devanagari. In the Rs 500 note, you will find a coloured security thread, which changes from green to blue when the note is tilted.
In these notes also you will see the symbol of Ashoka Pillar on the right side. The note has Mahatma Gandhi's portrait and the Ashoka symbol slightly elevated to help visually impaired people identify the Rs. 500 note.
