Zomato is attempting a new feature that will allow its customers to pay extra to have their food delivered faster. The food delivery giant is reportedly looking to introduce new features, alter its fee structure, and more to maintain its customer base. Zomato has not yet introduced the service and has not made any announcement as well but several media reports, citing sources, are claiming that Zomato will soon notify about the same.
As per Moneycontrol reported, In Bengaluru, a customer had the option to pay Rs 29 extra for 16-21 minutes delivery when compared with the regular 21 minutes delivery time. Interestingly, Zomato Gold members are also subject to this extra fee. However, Zomato has not made any comment on the service.

Zomato charges platform fees in addition to delivery fees and recently, it has increased the platform fee by 25 percent to Rs 5 for each order. It was Rs 02 in August 2023, Now the platform fee is Rs 05. The new charges are being levied on Customers of big cities including Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Delhi-NCR. This platform fee is a fixed fee for each order.
Zomato Gold customers, who are given additional discounts and offers, also pay the platform fee.
In addition to increasing prices, Zomato is updating Legends, its intercity delivery service launched in 2022. It offered next-day food delivery from select locations but ran into trouble when its pre-stocked items delivery mechanism was altered and is currently being changed. The service was sued for infringement of its claims. Currently, Zomato is revamping 'Legends', an intra-city delivery service, and exploring expanding it to long-distance delivery within cities and potentially even overseas.
