Zomato's board of directors has approved the company's name change from Zomato to Eternal, according to a regulatory filing released Thursday. They have also unveiled the new logo. To implement the change, the board approved a modification to the company's Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association.

“We would like to inform that the director of the company vide resolution dated February 6, 2025, have approved the change in the name of the company from ‘Zomato Ltd’ to ‘Eternal Ltd’," the company said in the filing.

“When we acquired Blinkit, we started using “Eternal” (instead of Zomato) internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a signicant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd,” Deepinder Goyal, group CEO and co-founder of Zomato, said in a letter filed with the BSE.

The stock ticker will be changed from Zomato to Eternal, but the name of the Zomato app will remain the same. The four main companies that currently make up Eternal are District, Hyperpure, Blinkit, and Zomato.

"Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox," Goyal added in his letter.

He further stated that this is not merely a name change, but a mission statement- a reminder ingrained into the company's identity that endurance will be achieved, not simply because they are present, but because reaching the goal is essential.
