IND U19 vs AUS U19 1st Youth Test: Star fast bowler Deepesh Devendran took a brilliant five-for and helped the hosts reduce AUS U19 to 243 on the first day during the first Youth Test. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Deepesh registered brilliant figures of 5/45 in the 16.2 overs that he had bowled, whereas Kishan Kumar took three wickets and leaked 48 runs.

The AUS were skittled out in 91.2 overs.

Steve Hogan, who came into bat at the No.3 position, was Australia's highest run-scorer as he had scored 92 runs off 256 balls and played the role of a lone warrior after the team suffered a batting collapse.

Zed Hollick scored a gritty knock of 38 runs off 94 balls.

AUS U19 had won the toss and chose to bat first and had lost two wickets after scoring 30 runs, where Deepesh and Kishan Kumar gave the team the much-needed breakthroughs.

Off-spinner Anmoljeet Singh had dismissed skipper Will Malajczuk and left the hosts tottering at 78/3 during the morning session.

Khilan Patel and Deepesh had taken the wicket of Hollick and wicketkeeper Simon Budge, and left Australia reeling at 167/5.

Since they didn't have any significant partnership on Day 1, the Indian bowlers performed brilliantly with their line and lengths and gave the hosts a hard time.

Both these teams have already faced each other in a three-match Youth ODI, which the Ayush Mhatre-led side won by 3-0.

They had won the first ODI by 57 runs and then won by 51 and 167 runs.

The second Test will be held next week in Mackay.
