IND vs AUS 4th Test: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is under immense scrutiny currently as he has been through a lean patch in the SENA countries. He once again had a disappointing outing with the bat during the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as he had scored just three runs and his Test captaincy was also slammed.

It should be noted here that his Test batting average on these tricky conditions has gone down to 15.55 during the last 10 innings and that is the lowest average for any Indian skipper since the last 75 years. These are warning signs as his leadership skills were also slammed on these challenging pitches.

Player Innings Average in SENA as captain
Virat Kohli 103 46.0
MS Dhoni 87 38.0
Rohit Sharma 31 29.1

Sharma's struggles in SENA countries have remained constant in his Test career. His failure in converting those starts into huge scores has become quite problematic. Although he has shown signs of his older signs sometimes his overall performance on these pitches has been quite problematic.

His continuous batting woes during the ongoing five-match Test series are another reason to worry as he has registered low scores of 3, 10, 3, and 6 in the last four innings. Initially, he batted as a middle-order batter and gave up his spot for KL Rahul but he opened the innings in Melbourne and once again disappointed the fans.

Rohit's disappointing run continues at MCG

Rohit Sharma once again fell cheaply during the second over after he mistimed a pull shot in Scott Boland's over. He used his back foot but failed to control the bounce and top-edged the pull shot. The ball went up into the air and Scott Boland, who was standing at mid-on, dismissed the Indian skipper.

Talking about the game, the Men in Blue had a challenging time with the bat on the second day as after Yashasvi Jaiswal got out, they suffered a batting collapse towards the fag end of the day. Virat Kohli too was dismissed after scoring just 36 runs as Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja were out in the middle as India was 164/5 at stumps.
