After the India-Bangladesh men’s series in August, the Bangladesh women’s tour of India, including three ODIs and three T20Is, slated for December, is likely to be postponed.

According to The Hindustan Times, the series, which is a part of the ICC Future Tour Programme, will not be played due to ‘prevailing diplomatic tensions between the two governments’.

The report suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering a backup plan for a brief home series in the third week of December. If finalised, the proposed series will be a short affair, given the Women’s Premier League's (WPL) scheduled start in early January and India's impending tour of Australia.

“The series hasn’t received the clearance,” a BCCI official told HT.

The Indian men's white-ball series in Bangladesh, originally scheduled for August, has been rescheduled for September 2026. The BCCI cited "international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams" as the reason for this decision.

"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026," BCCI's statement read.

"This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course," it added.

Relations between India and Bangladesh have deteriorated with Dhaka's demand for the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now sheltering in India.
