Mitchell Starc Wickets, AUS vs ENG 1st Test: Australia's senior pacer Mitchell Starc has started the Ashes 2025 series on a high as he produced an incredible effort with the ball in the first Test against England in Perth. After a seven-for in the first innings, Starc continued to trouble the visitors in the second innings as well.
Starc has already taken three wickets in the second innings, completing his 10-wicket haul in the game. Ahead of this milestone, Starc entered his name in the history books a she became the third bowler in the world to take 200 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC).

He headed into the five-match series with 191 WTC wickets under his belt. Having dismissed Joe Root, Starc bagged his 200th wicket on the second day of the ongoing Perth Test. Root, who got out for a duck in the first innings, was only able to make 8 runs from 11 balls in the second innings on Saturday. The overall record of taking the most wickets in the WTC is in the name of Starc’s Aussie teammate, Nathan Lyon.

The veteran spinner has 219 wickets to his name in 54 matches in WTC history. He is followed by the Australian captain Pat Cummins, who has 215 wickets in 51 WTC matches. All the mentioned Australian bowlers have participated in all three WTC cycles so far. The trio helped Australia bag the WTC 2021-23 title by defeating India in the final.

In the second innings, Starc dismissed Zak Crawley for 0 in the first over once again. He took an incredible catch off his own bowling before taking the crucial wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes.
Earlier in the day, Australia were bowled out for 132 runs in their first innings, giving the visitors a 40-run lead. Notably, Starc's performance has come in the absence of other senior pacer Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.
