Ashes 2025: Australia is currently facing England for the Boxing Day Test, and it has already scripted history as MCG saw the biggest crowd for one day. About 93,442 fans had come to the MCG and broke the earlier record of 93013 in the 2015 ODI World Cup summit clash.
The crowd broke the record for a day of Test cricket and broke the record of 91,112 who watched the first day of the 2013 match.
This was the second-biggest crowd to have attended a single day of Test cricket.

And the fans got what they had asked for.
Post winning the toss on a bowler-friendly pitch, the Ben Stokes-led side restricted Australia to 152 runs. Josh Tongue took a brilliant five-wicket haul and proved the naysayers wrong, and also entertained the England fans.
The host never really bounced after suffering a batting collapse. Travis Head, Jake Weatherald, and Marnus Labuschagne fell quickly as Tongue was dismissed for just 9 runs. Usman Khawaja (29), Alex Carey (20), and Cameron Green (17) helped the team bounce back, but Michael Neser's knock of 35 runs couldn't stop the inevitable.
This record-breaking crowd has led to a belief in achieving a bigger milestone of the highest cumulative attendance for this series. The current record is 271,865 in 2013, and Stuart Fox, who is the chief executive of MCC, has revealed that this can be achieved within the next few days.
The visitors have already lost this series, and their attempt to play for some pride finally found a celebratory moment.
The hosts are still leading the series, but the batting collapse gave them a stern reminder in front of a packed MCG.
