India have cruised to the final of the Asia Cup 2023 after securing back-to-back wins against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four. India defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to make it four points in two matches and continued their unbeaten run in the tournament.

Defending champions Sri Lanka gave a brilliant fight in the clash as youngster Dunith Wellalage displayed an all-around effort but failed to take his side over the line. He scalped five wickets to bundle out India for 213 in 49.1 overs and also played an unbeaten knock of 42 balls.

Dhananjaya de Silva also contributed 41 runs to the scoreboard and stitched a crucial 63-run partnership with Wellalage before being removed by Ravindra Jadeja.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav clinched four wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja bagged two scalps apiece.

Opting to bat first, India got an ideal start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 80 runs for the opening stand. Gill departed after scoring 19 while last match's hero Virat Kohli got out on three runs. In the next over, Rohit was also sent to the pavilion by Wellalage after scoring 53 runs including two sixes and seven fours.

India then lost quick wickets in the middle overs to further dent their hopes of posting a giant total. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul played handy knocks of 33 and 39 respectively to take India to a respectable total in Colombo. Axar Patel also added 26 late runs to take the total over 200.

India will take on Bangladesh in their final Super Four outing on Friday before playing the summit clash on Sunday, September 17.

Bangladesh are already out of the final race while Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face each in other Super Four encounter on Thursday in Colombo. Both teams are in contention for the last final spot. Sri Lanka are placed second in the table with two points while Pakistan sit in third spot with the same points but with a bad net run rate (-1.892).

The winner of the match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will fix their final against India in Colombo.
