Virat Kohli put on an incredible display in the Super Four encounter against Pakistan, leaving cricket fans in awe. In addition to propelling India to a dominant total of 356 runs, his quick unbeaten century set other records at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Kohli, often regarded as one of the greatest ODI batsmen of all time, showcased his class once again. After the game resumed on the second day, Kohli started his innings cautiously. He reached his fifty off 55 balls and then accelerated his innings gradually. Kohli reached his 47th ODI hundred off just 84 balls, finishing with a remarkable 122 runs off 94 deliveries, including nine fours and three sixes.

There was no shortage of records that tumbled as Kohli's masterclass unfolded:

1. Fastest to 13,000 ODI Runs: Kohli achieved the remarkable milestone of 13,000 ODI runs in just 267 innings, surpassing legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, and Sanath Jayasuriya. This feat solidified his status among the legends of the ODI format.

2. Record Partnership: Kohli stitched an unbeaten 233-run partnership with KL Rahul, the highest-ever partnership in the history of the Asia Cup. Earlier the record was held by Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan when they scored 224 runs together for the first wicket in 2012.

3. Asia Cup Dominance: Kohli's performance added an extra A to his already illustrious career. With four centuries in the Asia Cup, he equaled records held by legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya. His 183 against Pakistan in the 2012 edition still stands as the highest individual score in the Asia Cup.

4. Numbers in Colombo: Kohli's love affair with the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo continued. He averages 128.20 at this venue in ODIs.

5. Batting at No. 3: Kohli's 131 and 128 not out at R Premadasa Stadium hold the top two spots for the highest scores by an Indian batter while batting at No. 3 in ODIs at this venue.

6. 112th 50+ Score: Kohli notched his 112th 50+ score in ODIs, equalling Ricky Ponting's tally. Only Kumar Sangakkara(118) and Sachin Tendulkar(145) have more 50+ scores in ODIs.

India’s massive 228-run victory over Pakistan also became the Men in Blue’s biggest victory in terms of margin of runs against their arch-rivals in ODIs.
