Asia Cup Trophy Row: BCCI's (Board of Cricket Control in India) ferocious response to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi's tactics worked well, as he has been forced to hand over the trophy to the UAE Cricket Board as per a report by NDTV. The report stated that Naqvi's trophy-stealing act did not go down well with the BCCI at all, as the richest board pushed for his impeachment, which basically calls for his unceremonious removal as President.

It is yet to be seen how the trophy will reach its deserved winners, Team India.

The report iterated that BCCI officials termed Naqvi actions as abuse of ACC's office and a disregard for sporting standards. Naqvi actions were in direct conflict with Violation of the Code of Responsibilities and Ceremonial Protocols with his refusal to hand over the Asia Cup trophy to the winning team.

This move lead to an embarrassment of the ACC chief, who is also sitting the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Also, Naqvi's act reeked of unfair conduct which originated from personal or political resentment. As per several reports, the trophy and medals belonging to Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India were taken to his hotel room in Dubai after he walked out of the presentation in another form of embarrasment.

BCCI Backed Team India For Refusing To Accept Trophy From Naqvi

Eventually, the speculations cleared up after it was confirmed by the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. He disclosed that India had refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy during the presentation ceremony from ACC Chairman Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan's interior minister.

"We have decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. So we decided not to take it from him. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him, along with the medals. So it is very unfortunate and unsportsmanlike, and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible," Saikia told ANI.

India refused to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, on which Suryakumar Yadav said to ANI, "I won't call it controversy. If you have seen, people have posted photos of trophies here and there. But the real trophy is when you win the hearts of people, the players, the trust you earn, the support staff, the trust they have shown, the people who work behind the scenes; that is the real trophy. The real trophy is the work and effort of so many people on the field."
