India's men's cricket team kicked off their Asiam Games 2023 campaign in style as they registered a promising victory over Nepal in the quarter-final in Hangzhou on Tuesday.

The Men in Blue have successfully made it to the final, beating Nepal by 23 runs in their first match at the showpiece event.

While chasing the mammoth target of 203, Nepal were restricted to 179/9 in their 20 overs, suffering a defeat to get knocked out of the tournament.

Nepalese batters showed great resilience and an appreciable fight with the bat in between and towards the end but kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue as he took three wickets for just 32 runs in his four overs.

Avesh Khan also took three wickets with Arshdeep Singh taking two wickets as well while R Sai Kishore took a wicket as well on his T20I debut.

It was all Yashasvi Jaiswal's show with the bat for India who smashed a remarkable hundred to become the youngest Indian centurion in the shortest format.

He took just 48 balls to reach the three-figure mark before getting dismissed after scoring eight fours and seven sixes.

Jaiswal provided a stunning start to his team as he stitched a 103-run opening stand with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad before the latter's dismissal in the 10th over.

Jaiswal kept going even after missing out on partners in the middle overs with Tilak Varma and Jitesh Sharma getting dismissed cheaply.

Shivam Dube (25) and Rinku Singh added 52 runs for the fifth wicket to provide the finishing touches with the latter playing a 37-run cameo to help the team reach 202/4 in their 20 overs.

Rinku smashed two boundaries and four sixes in his 15-ball innings as he lived up to the standards of being one of the lethal hitters towards the end overs.

Earlier Ruturaj decided to opt first after winning the toss as India handed over debut caps to the young spinner Sai Kishore and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma.
