Yashasvi Jaiswal was on song with the bat as India's men's cricket team kicked off their campaign at the Asian Games 2023 with their first match being the quarter-final against Nepal in Hangzhou on Tuesday.

Jaiswal smashed a remarkable century off just 48 balls to help India post a mammoth total of 202/4 in their 20 overs after opting to bat first.

With this hundred, Jaiswal became the youngest ever Indian player to score a T20I century as he broke the previous record being 21 years nine months and 13 days old.

Shubman Gill, who hammered a hundred against New Zealand at 23 years and 146 days was the player to hold the record prior to Jaiswal's memorable knock.

Jaiswal who smashed eight fours and seven sixes in his 100-run innings became the eighth Indian to score a ton in the shortest format after the likes of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill as he began his Asian Games' campaign in style.

Talking about the match, Indian skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad decided to bat first as he stitched a 103-run partnership with Jaiswal for the first wicket before getting dismissed in the 10th over.

Jaiswal kept going and was hitting boundaries at regular intervals.

While India lost multiple wickets in the middle, Jaiswal was racing towards his century and eventually got that in the 16th over before he was dismissed in the next over by Dipendra Singh.
