Australia vs West Indies 2nd T20I: The second T20I between Australia and West Indies at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, February 11 witnessed a controversy with Alzarri Joseph surviving a run-out dismissal.

The instance took place in the 19th over of the West Indies' innings when Alzarri went for a quick single off Spencer Johnson while chasing the 242-run target.

However, Mitchell Marsh was quick to react and throw before the bowler dislodged the bails with the batter short of the crease.

In an unbelievable event, the batter was given not out citing none of the Australian players including the bowler appealed for it.

Marsh started celebrating after the replay was shown on the big screen but the umpire did not change his decision.

Tim David could be heard insisting he had appealed. Australian players were left stunned with one voice heard saying "This is ridiculous."

After all the controversy, Johnson went back to his run-up and bowled the next delivery before the game ended with the hosts winning it by 34 runs.

Law 31.3, the timing of appeals, states: "For an appeal to be valid, it must be made before the bowler begins his/her run-up or, if there is no run-up, his/her bowling action to deliver the next ball, and before Time has been called."

Talking about the match, Glenn Maxwell played memorable innings of unbeaten 120 runs to help his team post a total of 241/4 in the 20 overs while batting first.

Maxwell, who smashed a 50-ball hundred, equaled Rohit Sharma's world record for most T20I centuries (5).

"It was good fun, that's for sure. Always good batting here, we saw in the Big Bash how good the wickets were during the tournament," Maxwell said.

"The wicket was nice and true. I have always relied on my hand speed and it worked for me today. I give myself the best chance always and nice to play a positive knock."

Australia are now 2-0 up in the three-match series, having won the first match in Hobart by 11 runs.

The third and final T20I between Australia and West Indies will be played at the Perth Stadium on Tuesday, February 13.
