Babar has been one of the most consistent performers for Pakistan in modern times, especially in ODI cricket. However, he witnessed a massive dip in his batting form and struggled for runs across formats. The series against Sri Lanka brought back the good old days for Babar as he ended his long and frustrating wait for an international century. He played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 102 runs with the help of eight fours. This was his 20th ODI century for Pakistan as he matched Saeed Anwar's tally in the list of most hundreds for the Men in Green in the format.
"I wanted to believe in myself and my hard work. I was getting off to good starts, but I wasn't able to live up to the expectations. I was getting out at the wrong times. I was just trying my best. It's an honour to get past all the records of all legends," Babar had said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match in the 2nd ODI, having helped the hosts seal the series victory.
